"like you" is the oldest song we have in our set, though it's seen many incarnations. I don't think there's very much to explain with the lyrics or meaning to it... no hidden messages or anything.
you can't be perfect but you're
exactly right
you grip my soul a bit too tight
think I want someone like you
think I need someone like you
think I'll find someone like you
'cause you're the one for me
just put me down, I wish you
would say goodbye
it's all that I can do to lie
and I'm two
I'm cool and I'm heat
my feet are worn
I'm incomplete
and I'll lay back and nurse my eyes
hope this blindness goes away
you're still the only thing I see
in shades of crimson, yellow, gray

This one was written by Jesse and I one day when we came to band practice earlier than everyone else. We decided as a joke that we would write a really emo song on the spot and present it to the band as our new material. So five minutes later, we had it done, but the trouble is, we liked it so much that it kind of stopped being a joke.
February's gone forever
now it's time to say goodbye
understanding now or never
and I can't keep myself from crying
count the ways
in which we failed to see
shoes I gaze
it's nothing more than me
sheerer threads across the alley
silent in her warm embrace
chartreuse pens are keeping tally
sunken solitude encased

A fairly simple statement against the greed of the right wing. I don't want to get into it to much, but basically, fuck that kind of thinking. We're all here to help each other, not just to watch out for number one.
the memory's gone
I don't recall, is this a game
where right is wrong
and you want something left to blame
and the spirit's alive
you're awakened by five
can you fathom the might
we don't expect to be saved
from an untimely grave
if the colors ain't right
could you strip it all away
could you leave them there naked
with a cross and a gun
with a dislike of fun
so entitled to yours
in the instructional book
when you fuck up just look
there's a shortage of war
from the mountains high to fields so lush and green they're endless
saw your shadow cast upon the blackened sea for ten years
Kind of a pun name since it's in Drop-D tuning and the song lyrics deal with the subject of alcohol abuse.
I got my leg up
I read a magazine
is she a friend
a teenage beauty queen
you're far away
but we're so close
give me your hand
it's just the first dose
timepieces stalling
don't see me falling
can't hear you calling
I got a picture
where all the glass is broke
I let it shatter
and not a word was spoke
she glides so smooth
after the second time
the perfect couple
hey I got mine
they're lies but I know that they're true
there's nothing I can't do
I'm always in control
not digging my own hole
the bottle's never dry
and I'll heal...
A song that's sort of an adaptation of Rollo May's story of The Student from existentialist psychology. The story is about how people sort of get trapped in their aloneness and have a hard time breaking out of that. Huxley is the girl's dog, not Aldous Huxley, author of Brave New World, who isn't really dumb at all, unlike a dog.
she's happy in the day but she's crying all night
she's telling everybody that things are alright but she's wrong
yeah she's wrong
everybody left when she wanted them to stay
she's picking up the pace and she thinks she knows the way but she's lost
yeah she's lost
she's wasting alone and we're wasting together
she's wasting herself, it don't make her feel better
she's wasting forever
the telephone ain't ringing, it's glaze is of dust
and huxley's in the kitchen he's someone to trust but he's dumb
yeah he's dumb
the sun is sinking lower and she's sinking down
in just another few he'll be coming around, that's a lie
yeah a lie
she doesn't bother changing, a waste of her time
it's better spent in slumber where dreams are sublime, but they're not
yeah they're not
salvation waits outside while he knocks on the door
I guess she must be out buying things at the store, but he's wrong
yeah he's wrong
